On the 3rd of May, we attended the annual Ome Grand Festival - the biggest festival in Ome that features 12 wheeled floats known as “dashi”.
It is said that each dashi represents a local neighborhood of Ome City. Mannequins in costumes rode the dashi, which were moved through the streets accompanied by traditional flutes and drums by the residents of the neighborhood they represent.
It is also said that the festival has continued for more than a century now and has annually gathered more than 100,000 visitors with 300 stalls extending for almost 2 kilometers.
It was truly an exceptional experience indeed!
